Non-destructive testing

Non-destructive testing (NDT) makes it possible to assess the integrity of industrial structures without damaging them, to determine acceptability thresholds and to detect defects during condition diagnosis, so that the element under assessment can be replaced or reinforced as soon as possible without interrupting activity. Thanks to state-of-the-art instruments, Eurocontrol can carry out non-destructive testing of your production and structures using a wide range of means: ultrasound, acoustic emission, liquid penetrant, magnetic particles, radiography or thermography.

What is

Non Destructive Testing?

The various non-destructive testing technologies can be used at different stages of the manufacturing process.  In the case of infrastructure, Eurocontrol will be able to test the integrity of the infrastructure using specific sensors and rope access to reach specific locations. In the case of production, Eurocontrol can measure and ensure the conformity of a material or part, without the need to destroy or alter it.
From surface inspection, volume inspection and metallurgical inspection, we use all the techniques available from Penetrant Testing, to Magnetic Particle Inspection, ACFM, Ultrasound, TOFD, Phased Array, and Radiography.

Our services

We are accredited ENAC 845/LE1878 AS A NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING LABORATORY, as well as numerous audits by ASME AS A NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING COMPANY IN OBTAINING THE "U", "U2" AND "NUCLEAR "NPT" SEAL.

The scope of testing and inspection includes among others the following items:

  • Non Destructive Testing (Penetrant liquids, magnetic particles, ultrasound, X-Ray, Visual Inspection, hardness *, etc.).
  • Approval of welding procedures and welders according to ASME IX and EN ISO 15614 *.
  • Chemical Analysis of Materials "in situ" and in the laboratory *.

(*) Service outside the scope of ENAC accreditation.

We are also CWB certified to perform NDT according to the Canadian standard CSA W178.1. This certification, held by only two companies outside Canada and China, enables us to inspect welds by ultrasonic, radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant and visual inspection.

Destructive testing
Welded joints can be checked by various destructive testing techniques (microstructure, tensile tests, bending tests, microhardness filiations, macrographic examinations, chemical analyses, etc.) to ensure their conformity. These destructive tests are used to determine the characteristics of a weld and to certify the correct choice of welding parameters. The same applies to texture tests.
